The coronavirus outbreak continues to spread in the U.S., forcing everyone to decontaminate their homes and businesses. The demand for disinfectants have never been higher as supplies vanish from store shelves. The Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) deems the coronavirus as very contagious. We are not strangers to new viruses that promptly develop and get transmitted unknowingly from person to person. Disinfect IQ is dedicated to quickly responding to customers needs and eliminating any worries in the event of an outbreak.

What is SARS-CoV-2? – It is different name for the coronavirus and comes from the same genetic line as the 2003 SARS-CoV outbreak in China, yet not nearly as lethal but more infectious. SARS stands for "Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome."

What makes the coronavirus vulnerable to disinfectants? – The coronavirus is composed of four important parts; "spikes" that promote entry to human cells, "HE"protrusions that fuse and destroy receptors on cells, the internal "RNA & N protein," surrounded by nucleic acid, splices onto cells and takes over, and finally the "envelope" that separates the RNA inside from the outside. That "envelope" tells us it can easily be destroyed with hospital-grade disinfectants.

Bleach & ammonia disinfection – The CDC is posting a warning about combining bleach and ammonia cleaning methods to disinfect. The two chemical, when combined, can produce a toxic chloramine vapor. The VOCs emitted from these chemicals independently are toxic enough to cause respiratory problems. Disinfect IQ avoids chemicals that produce more resistant microbes. We never have to increase the strength our Benefogg™ formulation. It is food based, so it does not emit any toxic vapors. It is also deadly enough to kill a long list of microbes, including enveloped viruses like the coronavirus.

How long can the coronavirus live? – The CDC and the World Health Organization are not currently certain how long the virus can live. Regardless, other private, and highly regarded scientific organizations are releasing results. To learn more, go to The New England Journal of Medicine and see their evaluation.

Protecting ourselves & beyond – It is vital to protect ourselves. We must self-quarantine, practice social distancing, and adhere to state/federal lockdowns to be effective in lowering the infection rate. But, it all comes at a cost. Businesses, transportation, service industries, schools, and life, in general, comes to a screeching halt. When we flatten the infection rate and return to our activities, it is wise to keep a disinfection plan in place. Whether its daily, weekly or monthly, it is important to disinfect high-touch surfaces and areas with lots of activity.

Be smart when it comes to disinfecting – The Benefogg™ formulation used by Disinfect IQ is proven to be extremely effective at killing enveloped viruses. Disinfect IQ is uniquely prepared to disinfect and sanitize any business or sizable residential setting according to the protocols set forth by the CDC. The CDC recommends sanitizing doorknobs, tabletops, light switches, and other high-touch surfaces with hospital-grade disinfectants. Benefogg™ exceeds the EPA's requirements to pass their efficacy test.
